AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT

Also known as U.S. Immigration Form, I-864, the Affidavit of Support is a document in which the sponsoring U.S. Citizen assumes and accepts financial responsibility for the spouse seeking a green card. To obtain this document, most sponsors are required to have a minimum required income of 125% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines for their household and location. For example, a couple living in the contiguous United States with no children would need to have a minimum required income of $21,137.
